Luther Young, Jr. was born in Beaufort, South Carolina to Luther, Sr. and Terry Young. He attended Beaufort County Public Schools and graduated from Battery Creek High School. At an early age, Luther developed a strong passion for music. He bagan playing drums at age 7, violin at age 9, and saxophone at age 10.
While in high school Luther participated in and conducted various instrumental and vocal ensembles, held several leading roles in productions sponsored by the Thespian Society, and was drum major for the marching band for two years. Also at this time, Luther began to develop teaching and leadership skills, occasionally teaching music at his home church, Friendship Holiness Church in Stuart Point, SC, and Lighthouse Christian Center in Beaufort.
Luther moved to Nashville in 2009 to start his education at Belmont University. Within weeks he became a musician at Walking In Faith International Worship Center (formerly known as Walking In Faith Spiritual Church), where he is the current Director of Music and Media. He also serves as a musician at First Baptist Church South Inglewood and New Canaan Baptist Church. He was licensed to the Gospel of Ministry in August of 2011 and graduated from Belmont in 2012.
In addition to working on his own projects, he has performed with and continues to work with many great musicians, vocalists, producers, and songwriters, including The Joy Boyz, Everett Drake, Dorothy Norwood, Douglas Miller, Keesha Rainey, and The Dixie Travelers. Now Luther seeks to help other artists and musicians achieve their dreams and enjoy doing what they love.
